I had forgotten just how good this album was, it really is quite superb.
I also have the album on vinyl but don't really like playing it due to wear over the years.

The CD-only bonus tracks are Se a Cabo; Toussaint L'Overture , and Black Magic Woman/Gyspy Queen , recorded live at Royal Albert Hall on April 18, 1970.
Even now it sounds so fresh and new and superbly put together – what an amazing recording of wonderful guitar and African & Latin rhythms – it’s so hypnotic!

1999 Abraxas is the second studio album by latin rock band Santana. Best songs on the album are 'Black Magic Women' 'Oye Como Va' and 'Hope Your Feeling Better'.
Santana released another twelve albums in the 1970s, each earning RIAA certifications, and their success continued in the 1980s. Consolidating the interest generated by their first album, Santana (recorded in May 1969), and their highly acclaimed live performance at the Woodstock Festival in August 1969, the band followed-up with Abraxas in September 1970.

10 Loved this album when it first came out so far in advance of most music in so many ways. Reccently however, |Amazon have delered ths is album from their online service without giving a reason. The sound quality is Unacceptable.

Im actually in my local record store right now listening to the very first UK issue of Abraxas …
It has a number of their classics: Samba Pa Ti, Black Magic Woman, Oye Como Va,Incident at Neshabur etc.
To wit: two hit singles that emanated from opposite ends of the spectrum--"Black Magic Woman," originally written and recorded by English blues-rock guitarist Peter Green and Fleetwood Mac, and New York Latin percussionist/dance music king Tito Puente's infectious "Oye Como Va." Its pointless doing a track by track review as this album stands up on its own merits.Monumental album and essential in any music collection.

To my knowledge this is reissue number 4 - a 1980's basic version best forgotten, a 1991 Mobile Fidelity ULTRADISC II audiophile CD remaster (UDCD 552), followed by a 2003 Song Legacy CD with 3 bonus live tracks and a proper Vic Anesini Remaster - and now this - a second MOFI "Original Master Recording" audiophile CD in 2008 using their GAIN 2 SYSTEM transfer.

They don’t sit very well with the rest of the album. They should have left it alone.Santana are my favourite band. The only downside is the bonus tracks which are truly awful and in no way representative of Santana's actual live performance, which was truly magnificent.
