""It`s rare when your fantasies come true. Set beyond the Arctic Circle, nature takes centre stage in these islands, offering breath-taking views and scenery. From Bodø to Svolvær you can choose between the public ferry «Hurtigbåten»Hurtigbåten leaves regularly at 5pm and the Hurtigruten leaves at 3pm. The middle stretch allows you to choose between narrow snow chute skiing and more gentle valley skiing. We travel by road capitalising on the excellent road network and bridges linking the islands and fjords of the region. Every year there are sizeable avalanches in the entire valley, be therefore 200% sure about conditions before skiing down this route! Strange and challenging times calls for us to bring out the best of ourselves. All transportation to our area comes into the town Svolvær which is 6,5 km from the our Lodge. From there it is about 400 m to the top. The rest of the climb is straightforward.

After plastic ski boots and carving skis arrived on the scene in Lofoten, this route has largely been used only by adult leather ski boot freaks. Skiing in the Lofoten Islands is a unique experience. The chilled out atmosphere made us feel at home immediately. From there you have to walk along the shoreline for about 15 minutes before arriving at the road, along which it is about 1 km back to the shop. Hardy Lofoteners normally turn round at the top of Aksla ridge and go back to the top again.

If you drive westwards on the E10 from Kabelvåg, you will cross a small bridge, about 0.5 - 1 km from the town centre, where there is a signpost pointing to Eidet. Which way you go is up to you, but people normally keep to the left all the way to the top.

The Småtindan Peaks are Lofoten's most popular off-piste alpine skiing area. The area is most famous for it's dramatic scenery, the vibrant fishing industry and the northern lights.

From there, follow the illuminated ski trail to Kongsvatnet lake. This is called "doing the Småtindan" and has always been the typical mountain outing among the people of Svolvær. After all, this is Lofoten's longest downhill slope.The ascent to Geitgaljartinden starts behind the shop in Liland. Turn right there and proceed to the car park, about 200 metres from the main road. From there you will see Kudalsheia moor leading towards Mount Rundtinden. To get there, you drive to Laupstad, about 20 minutes from Svolvær in the direction of Fiskebøl.
The ascent starts on the natural ridge that leads up to Mount Rundtinden. You can also ski down the valley on the south-east side of the moor instead of skiing across the moor where you went up.Kudalsheia Moor is definitely recommended in the springtime, when the midnight sun lights up the entire northern face of the mountain. Fishing in Lofoten (Lofotfiske), Atlantic cod, the Northern Lights and winter colours. The end of the trip is really just a cleft about 50 metres below Varden.The route of descent is optional, people ski all over the Småtindan.
